Craps is one of the most exciting and popular games at casinos. Though simple and easy to learn, there are a number of ways to further boost your success.
Four Basic And Essential Craps Tips For Every Player
Craps is undoubtedly one of the all-time classic casino table games, and regular fixture at almost any casino you may visit around the world. Known as a simple, fun, and exciting game for players of all levels, it is also known for being a game of pure chance, where the strategy is not in the throwing of the dice, but in the betting, and in the player’s understanding the other intrinsic factors at play.
Tip No. 1 – Understanding House Edge And Keeping It Low
With every casino game, and with each bet, comes a certain “house edge”. Also known as house advantage, house average, and a number of other names, this generally refers to the predictable inbuilt “edge” that all casino games have over players in of their rate of loss, over time.
So, the more risky, and rewarding, the bets are, the higher their house edge will therefore be. Most gamblers, in craps or otherwise, will always seek the lowest house edge possible, or attempt to lower it even further if possible.
Tip No. 2 – Stick To The Standard Bets
There are a number of basic standard bets, that have proven over time to be the most safe and reliable for beginners and more advanced players alike.
- Line Bets & Come Bets
Each of these basic bets, in most casinos, have the lowest house edge of 1.41%, and are generally also the most commonly played in craps. They are used effectively as single bets, and also when combined.
- Odds Bets
Also called “Free Odds”, this is a very useful combination bet with no house edge, and can be used strategically with other bets, such as the line and come bets, to help keep the overall house edge at its lowest.
- Don’t Line Bets & Don’t Come Bets
These are essentially the reverse of the line and come bets though with the same advantages. Because they are so rarely used though, some casinos have been known to lower their house edge slightly further, to as low as 1.36%. This is mostly due to the fact that they are bets on players losing rather winning, which traditionally has been seen as unfavourable.
Tip No. 3 – Shop For The Best Odds
If you play at Bet Big Dollar, or if you have a choice of casinos to visit where you live, it is always worth taking a look at what each have to offer before splashing out. Though the casinos are generally all regulated by the same laws and standards, depending on how large, successful, or innovative they are, one of them may very well be offering better odds and payouts, or special deals, to attract business.
Tip No. 4 – Play Responsibly
It may seem cliché, but responsible money management is absolutely vital to short and long-term success, in craps, and in any gambling. The easiest way is to do this is to set a strict budget and loss limit, and to keep the frequency of your games, and therefore house edge, to a reasonable level. |
